Avalanche lilies along Hurricane Ridge in Washington state's Olympic National Park.
.....
Olympic National Park is located in the U.S. state of Washington, in the Olympic Peninsula. The park can be divided into four basic regions: the Pacific coastline, alpine areas, the west side temperate rainforest and the forests of the drier east side. U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt originally created Mount Olympus National Monument in 1909 and after Congress voted to authorize a re-designation to National Park status, President Franklin Roosevelt signed the legislation June 29, 1938. In 1976, Olympic National Park became an International Biosphere Reserve, and in 1981 it was designated a World Heritage Site. In 1988, Congress designated 95 percent of the park as the Olympic Wilderness.

I have been photographing the beauty of America and other places around the world for over 30 years. My photographic work has won awards and has been frequently published in books, calendars and magazines such as National Geographic, Time, Popular Photography, Smithsonian Magazine, and Texas Highways. Originally from Sweden, I now reside in the Pacific Northwest (Seattle area). I enjoy many types of photographic subjects and styles, but really love landscape, nature and travel photography. I use Canon full frame mirrorless and DSLRs with a full range of L-series lenses, and touch up my digital captures in Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop to recreate the artistic vision I felt and saw when the capture was made, and to make the images ready...

WOW! I almost burst into song ... and I can't sing a note ... unlike Julie Andrews. A wonderful photograph once again. And I finally glanced at the side-bar and saw that it is a digital. How do you get such richness from a digital? What kind of camera do you use?
Inge Johnsson replied:
Hi Shannon. Your nice, and funny, comments are much appreciated. I use a Canon 5D Mk II (I now also have a Mk III) with various Canon L lenses. For this image I used a Canon TS-E 24/3.5L tilt-shift lens. As for rich colors and tones, I believe it is a combination of shooting late or early in the day when the light is warm and angled, plus sometimes increasing the "vibrance" of the unsaturated colors in post processing (LightRoom). I shoot my captures in RAW (Canon CR).

Thanks Elena. I have explored this area so extensively, so I try to visit certain places when I know that certain flowers are in bloom. It is indeed paradise to me :-)
