Wonderful vibrant colors, perfect balanced composition, superb in every aspect. It also reminds me of the route to mysterious Petra, - and, no matter how we mortals may try, the greatest of all artists is nature.

Artist's Description

Layers of sandstone in an Arizona slot canyon
.....
Antelope Canyon is the most-visited and most-photographed slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon includes two separate, photogenic slot canyon sections, referred to individually as Upper Antelope Canyon or The Crack; and Lower Antelope Canyon or The Corkscrew.
The Navajo name for Upper Antelope Canyon is Tse bighanilini, which means "the place where water runs through rocks." Lower Antelope Canyon is Hazdistazi (advertised as "Hasdestwazi" by the Navajo Parks and Recreation Department), or "spiral rock arches." Both are located within the LeChee Chapter of the Navajo Nation.Antelope Canyon was formed by erosion of Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to other sub-aerial processes. Rainwater, especially during monsoon season, runs into the extensive basin above the slot canyon sections, picking up speed and sand as it rushes into...

About Inge Johnsson

Inge Johnsson

I have been photographing the beauty of America and other places around the world for over 30 years. My photographic work has won awards and has been frequently published in books, calendars and magazines such as National Geographic, Time, Popular Photography, Smithsonian Magazine, and Texas Highways. Originally from Sweden, I now reside in the Pacific Northwest (Seattle area). I enjoy many types of photographic subjects and styles, but really love landscape, nature and travel photography. I use Canon full frame mirrorless and DSLRs with a full range of L-series lenses, and touch up my digital captures in Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop to recreate the artistic vision I felt and saw when the capture was made, and to make the images ready...
