Solitaire is a small settlement in the Khomas Region of central Namibia near the Namib-Naukluft National Park. It currently features the only gasoline station, post office, bakery, and the only general dealer between the dunes at Sossusvlei and the coast at Walvis Bay, as well as to the capital Windhoek. Solitaire belongs to the Windhoek Rural electoral constituency.

Solitaire is known in The Netherlands because of the book of the same name by Dutch author Ton van der Lee dealing with his stay in this place.

I have been photographing the beauty of America and other places around the world for over 30 years. My photographic work has won awards and has been frequently published in books, calendars and magazines such as National Geographic, Time, Popular Photography, Smithsonian Magazine, and Texas Highways. Originally from Sweden, I now reside in the Pacific Northwest (Seattle area). I enjoy many types of photographic subjects and styles, but really love landscape, nature and travel photography.
